Unexpected money

November 19th, 2006 at 07:41 am

Well I was asked to babysit for my daughters friend last night. DH didn't mind looking after our two little ones (4yrs and 9months). Also my grandson was staying over. So I babysat from 8 until 1.40 and got £30. Am putting it into newly formed emergency fund. One thing bothers me about this couple, they have newly laid carpet all through their new home,a large plasma tv on the wall, various other things of value and yet their phone is disconnected because they didn't pay the bill. The folly of youth (they are both mid twenties and very much into going out and having a good time).

from hospital last night. Thank goodness. He is still very wheezy and not interested in food, only his formula. Also didn't sleep well at all. Hope the inhalers kick in soon. I am keeping him in the house as the weather is cold/rainy, so won't get chance to be tempted to spend. Although I have to make a confession, I was so stressed out last night I splurged on a bottle of wine for £4.00. I know alcohol isn't the way to go, but sometimes it just helps make things not feel as bad you know?
Well it's DH payday tomorrow and it's all spoken for. No room for saving this month damn. From January we are going to find a way to save a few £'s I am determined.

Over budget

Well I really tried to stay within hudget, but had to get extra petrol as baby is in hospital again. His wheezing/breathing was so bad we took him to A&E yesterday and they kept him in again. Too young to diagnose asthma but I am feeling so guilty because when I was 14 weeks pregnant with him I had a bad asthma attack and was in the hospital for a week. If I had gone in earlier and not tried to struggle on, maybe he wouldn't be like this. Does anyone know if there is a connection? I know asthma can be hereditary, but have i increased the poor little mites chances? Anyway, DH stayed with him whilst I brought DS2 home. (it kills me to leave him there but it is usually me who stays and DH did offer this time). We are both headed over to hosp now for the ward round. Hopefully he will be discharged. So the extra petrol was needed! Sorry to ramble.

Auction

November 10th, 2006 at 09:32 am

Well I didn't win the table/chairs. I put a bid in of £100 and they went for £140. Nevermind. I will try again at some point.
Am at home today as the nursery at work rang me yesterday and asked me to come and collect my baby as he wasn't well. My boss allowed me to go home straight away, and he isn't fit enough to go today. Also, I have caught his cold overnight. It will definately be a no spend day today as we aren't going out.
I have only £15 to last for food and anything we need until Wednesday, should about do it as we have lots of food in. Am really trying hard to keep to my budget this month.

Well I've been hankering after a new dining table and 6 chairs from Ikea, but it would cost nearly £400! So yesterday my daughter and I went to look in a local auction room. There was a nice table and chairs there, granted not pine which I wanted but nice non the less. Far better quality too. Seeing as how I am shy, I filled in a form saying that I couldn't be at the auction (today) and put my highest bid in as £100. The only reason I put so little down is because my daughters friend got a set for £80 a few weeks ago, so you never know. So today I'll be hanging around the phone to see if I was successful. If so, I've saved lots of money, if not, well guess it was just meant to be.
