Over budget

November 13th, 2006 at 07:47 am

Well I really tried to stay within hudget, but had to get extra petrol as baby is in hospital again. His wheezing/breathing was so bad we took him to A&E yesterday and they kept him in again. Too young to diagnose asthma but I am feeling so guilty because when I was 14 weeks pregnant with him I had a bad asthma attack and was in the hospital for a week. If I had gone in earlier and not tried to struggle on, maybe he wouldn't be like this. Does anyone know if there is a connection? I know asthma can be hereditary, but have i increased the poor little mites chances? Anyway, DH stayed with him whilst I brought DS2 home. (it kills me to leave him there but it is usually me who stays and DH did offer this time). We are both headed over to hosp now for the ward round. Hopefully he will be discharged. So the extra petrol was needed! Sorry to ramble.

I don't think there's any connection between the asthma attack you had when you were pregnant and this. Neither of us have asthma, yet our oldest had several attacks and a couple of hospital stays before he was 1 year old. He outgrew them and has not had any since the age of 4. In fact, he grew up to be a long distance runner and never had a bit of trouble with his breathing.

I hope he's out of the hospital and back home now!

I'm so sorry your baby is sick!! It don't think it has anything to do with your pregnancy. Please don't blame yourself. Here is a virtual {{hug}} for you!
I had asthma as a kid and outgrew it by 10. I hope your baby is home soon!

You guys are amazing. Thanks so much for the reassurance, it makes such a difference. Been to hospital, DS is still wheezing up a storm, but his sats are ok and no temp. They took him off nebulisers and put him on inhalers. If he goes ok with them up until this pm, he can come home. DH has stayed with him, I came back to take DS1 to nursery and to babysit grandson who is off school sick (daughter is single parent and needed to work as she is struggling financially). I'm waiting for a call from DH to tell me to go pick them up hopefully! Although we will be down on hubbys wage for today, its just worth it to have a parent with DS all the time.
Thanks again for replying and for the hug!

It's awful when one of your children is in the hospital! My most recent was surgery on my grown DS a couple of years ago. It wasn't any easier then. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I hope your little one is breathing easier today. And I hope that your grandson gets better, too!
